As a member of the boxing media, I've often shown artistic preference to the sport's most iconic warriors (as any of my followers and supporters know full well by visiting CoyoteDuran.com!)! So it should come as no surprise that I have a lot of fun rendering one of boxing's modern-day legends, eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao.

I've drawn the "Pac-Man" in all sorts of mediums, from simple comic-style ink renderings to full-blown acrylic and watercolor paintings. So in recognition of Manny's upcoming welterweight bout against Adrien Broner on January 19, I figured Pacquiao was due his time in the "Sketch Card Chronicles" close-up spotlight (Micron pen and Copic Marker on a 2.5" X 3.5" Bristol Board sketch card)!

Last time on the The Coyote Duran Show (that has a nice ring; doesn't it?), I shared what started as a Periscope broadcast (sorry for not sharing the rest, gang. I got a little...uh, carried away) that morphed into a full-blown watercolor and ink piece (on 11" X 14" cold press paper) celebrating the inevitable return of eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. Since our last meeting, I shared the buildup on Instagram!

Manny Pacquiao: Part one...The pencil stage

Manny Pacquiao, pencils on 11" X 14" cold press watercolor paper, prior to watercolor paint and ink stage. Boxing art by Coyote Duran
The start of my latest Manny Pacquiao painting. (Pencils on 11" X 14" cold press watercolor paper.) NEXT: watercolor paint and ink!

So, currently, I have a couple of art projects in various stages around the Coyote Den and that's a good thing. It means I always have something artsy to do when I'm not working my gig as a boxing news editor.

However, I needed to do something bigger when we in the media learned that eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao was likely to cancel a very short-lived retirement after defeating Tim Bradley in their third bout last April. At the same time, it also gave me the opportunity to start using my Periscope (a live-streaming video application) account.

Manny Pacquiao in ink!

The second entry in my sketchbook is an ink sketch of eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. From what I hear, "Pac-Man" didn't look half this mean in his recent "super-fight" against undefeated welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Oh, well. Boxing indeed lives on.

Really? Sad Keanu's a No-Brainer!

In light of Manny Pacquiao's recent knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez (in their fourth outing), I find it hard to believe that amid the rash of Manny memes going around, there's been no "Sad Keanu" memes. Really? This is the easiest one in the bunch! I mean, the bench is right there!

Albie Espinola- Pal of Mine and a Modern Master

Last year, I wrote an article on Maxboxing.com about a friend of mine, Albie Espinola, whose art (specifically boxing-related) caught my eye. Albie is a British artist and fashion designer with an inimitable style and a flair for detail and long, long hours at the canvas. I just wanted to share his latest video, a time-lapse (I have to admit; Albie inspired me to do a variation of his theme with the Stereo Transmitted Disease video I posted last autumn) of a super-colorful rendering of a post-victory Manny Pacquiao celebration (complete with appearances by trainer Freddie Roach and Top Rank honcho Bob Arum!). After you check out this killer video (with an excellent, stylish, mash-up soundtrack made even cooler with ringside commentary), please click the link below the video to read my May 2010 article on this amazing talent!

Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach

My latest commissioned piece, an acrylic on 24" X 36" stretched canvas, of Manny Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach! Many thanks to Chris Piche (who commissioned this) for the fantastic concept!

Manny Pacquiao

A 12" X 16" rendering of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao in acrylic on Gessoed Masonite. At the time of its completion in March of 2009, it was the first painting I did, in any media, in 14 years.
